2d Echo
2d echocardiography or 2d echo is a non-invasive investigation that gives the view that appears to be cone-shaped on the monitor and determines the real-time motions of the heart.
Preparation:
- Nothing special is to be done before undergoing a 2d Echo but it is advisable, not to eat a large meal before the test.
- In case you are having a trans esophageal echocardiogram, then the doctors will ask you to eat for several hours beforehand.
- Don’t consume caffeine and nicotine as it might affect the results of the test.
Duration:
The test is always done in the presence of a cardiologist and radiologist and it takes around 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete the test.
